Commbus Solution:
With much discussion and debate surrounding the topic of live television debates for the 2015 General Elections, much of the final detailed planning had to be decided late in the process.
With disagreements between political parties and their leaders on who should participate many elements within the planning were changing not just daily - but in many cases hourly.
Having provided services including promotional buses and event support services to many of the regions of ITV for a number of years we were approached to provide Event Support Services supporting what was to be one of the biggest live television events of the time.
With the leaders of the 7 main political parties agreeing to the 2 hour live debate security was at the forefront of the planning, the location for the live broadcast and support Media Centre was not be to publicly announced until 10 am on the morning of the debate.
One of our On Location buses with external branding in place was sited outside of the main studies at Media City in Salford. This was the control centre for all of the outdoor broadcaster and hub area for all European and international media to report to. One of our mobile storage trailer was used as the hub for all the broadcast feeds for distribution to other networks.
At Media City the well know Pie Factory became the home for the Media Centre for the television debate. The studio was an ideal location from a technical point and there were empty studios that we we were to transform into a Reception Area, Press viewing room, Spin Room and Media breakout room.
Physical items for the set up of these areas included:
Bespoke built reception desk (as the space to be used was too narrow to have anything pre made brought in – and had to be physical made in situ)
160 tables,
160 black table clothes
310 Chairs
25 plant and floral displays
Our Commbus graphics team installed signage in and around the Media Centre including large form banner suspended in the Press viewing room, to outdoor carpark and directional signage
Our team brought together a range of event support services within a high deadlines for one of largest live television events of the time.
A big thank you for all your support.
