Event Experts Opening the Gates. The Story of Commbus and the People Behind the Events
For over 25 years, Commbus has been helping events happen.
Not from behind a desk.
Not from a call centre.
From muddy fields, city centres, festival sites, roadshows, backstage compounds and event control offices across the UK and beyond.
This June, we’re opening the gates for two special Industry Visit Days. Giving event professionals, venues, planners and agencies the chance to step into the world behind the scenes and properly experience what Commbus does.
Not a trade exhibition.
Not a corporate sales event.
Just a real event company opening its doors.
Opening the Gates This June
This June, we wanted to create something that reflects who we really are as a company.
Not polished sales presentations.
Not aggressive networking.
Just a relaxed opportunity for industry professionals to explore, chat, ask questions and see what goes into delivering successful events.
Across the two Industry Visit Days, guests will be able to experience:
• Event vehicles and infrastructure
• Operational setups
• Power and PA demonstrations
• Deckerdence fully set up
• Behind-the-scenes tours
• Food, drinks and evening atmosphere
We want visitors to leave understanding not just what Commbus does.
But why we genuinely love doing it.

Our Industry Visit Days take place on:
10 June
Daytime visits followed by evening atmosphere showcase
11 June
Daytime visits
To keep the experience relaxed and welcoming, visitor numbers are being kept intentionally manageable, giving everyone the opportunity to properly explore the site, meet the team and have genuine conversations.
If you work within events, hospitality, production, venues or corporate experiences, we’d love to welcome you along and show you what Commbus and Deckerdence are all about.
The Evening Atmosphere
On the evening of 10 June, the site will begin to shift from working yard to live event environment.
Lighting will glow across the site.
Music will drift through the space.
The bars will open and conversations will continue long after the daytime tours finish.
This part of the event is not about presentations or formal networking. It’s about experiencing the atmosphere that great events create when infrastructure, creativity and people all come together properly.
Guests will have the chance to see Deckerdence fully lit and operating alongside the wider Commbus setup, offering a real insight into how temporary spaces can be transformed into memorable event environments.
It’s often during these quieter evening moments that people truly understand what makes live events so special.
Where Commbus Began
Commbus was formed in 1999 by directors who had already worked together across a variety of individual projects within the events and entertainment industry.
After years of collaborating successfully, they recognised something important.
By combining their different areas of expertise together, they could create a company capable of delivering something genuinely unique. A professional service with bespoke solutions built around exactly what clients needed.
From the beginning, Commbus was never designed to be “off the shelf”.
The directors brought experience from a huge range of specialist industries including:
• Public address systems
• Stage and concert lighting
• Television production
• Outdoor events
• Marketing and promotions
• Vehicle management
That combination created a solid foundation for a company built around creativity, logistics and practical event knowledge.
More importantly, it created a company capable of supporting clients properly. Not just supplying equipment, but helping make events successful from the ground up.
Built on Problem Solving
One thing the events industry teaches you quickly.
No two projects are ever the same.
One day might involve supporting a parade vehicle through a city centre. The next could mean helping manage infrastructure for a festival site or creating a mobile roadshow solution for a national campaign.
That unpredictability is one of the things we genuinely love about what we do.
At Commbus, every phone call brings something different.
And that variety has shaped the company over the last 25 years into a flexible, knowledgeable and highly experienced event partner.
A Close-Knit Team With Big Experience
One of the things clients often comment on is the atmosphere within the Commbus team.
We are a close-knit group with a huge amount of experience between us all.
Big enough to manage large-scale projects.
Small enough to genuinely care about the details.
And in events, the details matter.
The timing of vehicle arrivals.
The positioning of event control.
The practicalities of power distribution.
The little operational decisions that guests never notice, but organisers absolutely rely on.
That attention to detail is part of the reason many clients continue working with us year after year.
Perfectly Positioned for UK and International Events
Based in Coleshill, North Warwickshire, Commbus sits in an ideal central location with direct access to the UK motorway network.
That allows us to support projects across the whole country efficiently.
As fully licensed International Vehicle Operators, we are also able to extend our services globally.
Over the years, our buses, coaches and trailers have travelled everywhere from the Highlands of Scotland to Brighton beach, across Europe and even into Russia.
Events rarely stand still. Neither do we.
Promotional Vehicles, Roadshows and Exhibitions
Commbus originally became widely recognised for its bespoke vehicle solutions.
We provide both hire and purchase options for promotional campaigns, exhibitions, roadshows and awareness projects.
Our fleet of pre-converted buses can be adapted both internally and externally to create one-off branded vehicles ready for touring projects and live activations.
These mobile solutions are ideal for:
• Product showcases
• Brand activations
• Public consultations
• Awareness campaigns
• Touring exhibitions
• Community engagement projects
Sometimes clients only need a vehicle for a single day.
Sometimes they need a fully bespoke long-term touring solution.
That flexibility has always been a huge part of what makes Commbus different.
For longer-term projects, we can source, oversee, design, re-fit and build buses or coaches to exact specifications. Working closely with clients throughout the process to ensure the final vehicle supports both operational requirements and audience experience.
We don’t just provide vehicles.
We help turn ideas into reality.
More Than Just Vehicles
Over time, clients increasingly began asking Commbus for broader event support.
Not just transport solutions.
But operational expertise too.
Today, alongside our specialist fleet, we support events with:
• Event control offices
• Backstage support spaces
• Site management
• Rigging crews
• Equipment coordination
• Back-office operational support
• Power, lighting and infrastructure planning
Our converted buses are particularly popular as event control and production offices because they offer a practical working environment within a very compact footprint.
On busy event sites, that flexibility becomes incredibly valuable.
From the upper deck of some of our buses, organisers can oversee large areas of the event site while still having all operational facilities immediately available onboard.
Supporting the Whole Event
One of Commbus’ biggest strengths is the ability to support clients across multiple areas of event delivery.
For example, a project might involve:
• An event control office
• Branded operational vehicles
• Backstage dressing rooms
• Experienced site management
• Third-party plant and equipment coordination
• Rigging and support crews
• Operational consultancy
Being able to provide this combination of practical services and event knowledge has led to Commbus being trusted with significant roles within the industry, including acting as Official Event Site Contractors for the International Dance Festival Birmingham.
The Deckerdence Story
In December 2015, Deckerdence was acquired by Commbus directors Mark Clark and Clare Macleod.
And it quickly became one of the most distinctive parts of the company story.
Deckerdence is a unique mobile venue built around a beautiful vintage double-deck bus featuring a traditional lower-deck bar and an atmospheric cocktail lounge upstairs.
Combined with flexible marquee options, from attached canopies to full wraparound structures, Deckerdence creates unforgettable spaces for:
• Weddings
• Corporate hospitality
• Festivals
• Parties
• Fetes and fairs
• Brand and community events
It perfectly represents the balance between creativity and operational experience that sits at the heart of both businesses.

Looking Ahead
The events industry continues to evolve rapidly.
Clients increasingly want experiences that feel memorable, flexible and authentic. At the same time, operational expectations have never been higher.
That combination is exactly where Commbus thrives.
Practical enough to manage the complexities.
Creative enough to support ambitious ideas.
Experienced enough to stay calm when it matters most.
After more than 25 years in events, one thing remains exactly the same.
We still love seeing empty spaces transformed into something extraordinary.
