Today we are on site providing Public Address Services at the War Memorial Park in Coventry for King Henry VIII School Annual Cross-Country Relay.
The competition has become a long standing tradition for the competing schools. The boys race is in its 45th year and have 6 competitors per team, each competitor runs the 2.3 miles (3.7KM) course. The girls race in its 17th year, they run the same course with 4 legs of the 2.3. mile course. Independent schools across the country send teams to compete with some travelling over 350 miles to attend.
The guest of honour at this years event is Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE, founder of the international organisation part run, Paul will be awarding the prizes to all the winning teams and individuals.
We were approached by the event organiser to provider the public address at the War Memorial Park in Coventry for this year competition.
Public Address work at the heart of the Directors forming Commbus over 16 years ago. This combined knowledge in lighting and sound and of course buses, our Double Deck Event Control Buses are ideal for such applications as the upper deck gives you the perfect platform to view across an events site.
For the Public Address solutions we offer, each project is unique to the site and the specific’s of the event. We look to complete a site visit with the organisers to be able to understand fully their requirements so that we can provide exactly the right solutions.
For the school’s cross country relay race taking place in a public park, all set up had to be completed on the morning of the event. The event organisers wanted a place for the commentators to be based, where they could have a view over the event. They wanted the sound also not to just cover the start area, but greater coverage across the site.
The solution for this project was a combination of speakers to cover different zones of the park including the starting line, finish area and the spectator area. we used long throw speakers mounted on our Landstage. Landstage is our own custom creation, a stage platform built on top of our Landrover 110 station wagon. When stationary up to 4 people can be on the platform and its frame structure is ideal for being able to fix lighting and speakers. The Landstage frame has also been designed to allow banners to be attached, providing you with unmissable branding opportunities.
By using our Landstage solution as a mobile speaker tower it gives the flexibility to be able to re position on the site when needed without having to de rig or require any more equipment.
