Key Factors to Make Your Event a Success

Any event manager will agree that the planning and set up stages are the most important in order to make any event successful, and as Benjamin Franklin famously said “if you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail”. However, do not let the thought of the stress that comes with planning an event put you off - if you get this part right, the event will be a success!

With the team here at Commbus having over 120 years combined experience within the events industry, here are their top tips into making your event a success - right from the first planning meeting!

1. Always be ahead of the game

The events industry is ever changing, and unfortunately this can sometimes catch event managers off guard - it is vital for those in the industry to keep up to date with current trends and what other are doing in the sector. And most important, be open to change in order to keep their cliental happy.

2. Don’t be complacent… at least not until the event is over

Following on from the previous point, the Commbus team believe that event managers should never be complacent - a storm may be brewing just around the corner! Commbus have ran countless events on all different scales within the industry for over 20 years, and it is safe to say that the team here have learnt the hard way to not relax until the job is complete!

3. Communication is key

It is common knowledge that communication is a vital aspect in ensuring a company operates smoothly and there is no difference when it comes to events. Here at Commbus the team believe that it is essential to communicate throughout the whole process of the event, regardless if this is with clients, contractors or colleagues etc. Commbus’s top tips for proactive communication are; firstly, remember there are other ways to communicate other than through email! Most situations in events are time sensitive, event managers do not have time to wait around for email responses! Secondly, communication is a double ended stick - in order to be an effective event manager you must also listen! Lastly, follow up with all stakeholders to ensure that you’re getting the outcome you desire!

4. Be upfront with clients, right from the start… even when it comes to money

The team at Commbus always want to be honest when it comes to running their events and they don’t believe in hidden costs & agendas. As previously mentioned, Commbus have been involved in the events industry for over 20 years and they have certainly built up a strong cliental with national companies such as ITV, Staffordshire University & McLaughlin & Harvey, all from the way they treat their clients and the effort and knowledge they put into each project, you pay for the whole package with Commbus!
