Love Coleshill Campaign
We have supported the Love Coleshill Campaign since its inception in November 2011. When we heard about the new Coleshill Christmas Market we offered our services to the organisers free of charge. We rigged the market hall (Coleshill Town Hall) with electrics, Public Address systems , and of course Christmas Decorations! The concept of Love Coleshill is to promote doing things local, shopping local, using local business’s and loving the town we have. For the Christmas Market we also offered to sponsor the competition for local school children to design a logo for the campaign and we were really impressed with the results! There were some fabulous designs but the one that won was really outstanding. We presented the winner with a voucher, an art set and all of the runners up received a tin of biscuits which were of course in the shape of a bus!
The next project was a late night shopping event and we took our Open Top Bus, to park on the high street to promote the event during the day and in the evening the bus was a stage for the Coleshill Town Bans playing a great selection of favourite Christmas carols. Our coach ferried late night shoppers up and down the high street connecting the whole town. All of the shops that opened offered complementary drinks and Christmassy treats such as mulled wine, roast chestnuts and mince pies.
Following these events the momentum was so high that the obvious next step was to form a committee for the Love Coleshill Campaign. A web site was launched (www.lovecoleshill.co.uk) and facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/LoveColeshill) and a consortium of local shops and businesses was formed. We are part of the committee and the consortium and give our time, resources and ideas to the cause.
The Campaign has gone from strength to strength with the fantastic support of local press and the general public, as well as our local MP Dan Byles. At Easter Love Coleshill launched the new Loyalty card and we started planning for the Jubilee Celebrations. Love Coleshill applied for the road to be closed and accessed funding to pay towards the event. We were instrumental in organising the main event on 3rd June. Once again we decked out the Town Hall as well as providing a large screen and projector to relay the pageant of boats up the Thames. We had planned for a road closure for a street party but unfortunately bad weather prevailed and the whole event was held indoors, but sprits weren’t dampened and it was great Jubilee Celebration.
We are committed to helping our local town to thrive and we supported a new networking event at the Coleshill Hotel by providing PA and presentation equipment. We hope to help bring businesses together. We will continue to help Love Coleshill to go from strength to strength and there are plenty more exciting things planed for the rest of this year.
